On April 1, 2012, Les Klinger was a featured speaker at the 2012 World Horror Convention in Salt Lake City, Utah, on the topics of Sherlock Holmes, Dracula and the Sand Man. Les is considered to be one of the world’s foremost authorities on Sherlock Homes and Dracula, and is the editor of award winning annotations on each.
The World Horror Convention is an annual conference sponsored by the Horror Writers Association, a non-profit organization of professional writers of fiction and non-fiction inspired by the traditions, legends, development, and history of horror and occult.
Bob Kopple and David Elbaz were featured speakers at the 2012 USC Tax Institute, and gave a presentation on “Integrating Various Business Succession and Wealth Transfer Planning Techniques.” The presentation focused on transfers to key employees through equity incentive plans and alternatives, buy-sell agreements and other arrangements, as well as transfers to family members through lifetime gifts, bequests, installment sales, sales to “defective trusts,” and GRATs. The presentation also addressed special issues involved with family limited partnerships and LLCs, life insurance, and the interlocking income and estate tax consequences of business succession strategies.
The USC Tax Institute is an annual three day seminar sponsored by the University of Southern California Gould School of Law, and is widely-known in the profession as being one of the preeminent annual seminars on tax law. Bob has been a longtime member of the Planning Committee of the Institute.
